True Beauty Season 2 (2025) with Cha Eun-woo, Mun Ka Young & Kim Ji-won Return!

Fans of "True Beauty," brace yourself for yet another exciting journey, as tVn recently revealed the exciting news that True Beauty will return in 2025 with a second season! The trailer has already been released, and it looks fantastic! 

In 2020, as the world was consumed by pandemic worries and everyone's mental health was failing, tVn stepped in and released the drama True Beauty which greatly improved everyone's mood. Since then, the series has had a special place in all our hearts to this day! Fans and netizens have been eagerly waiting for a continuation of the series as the end of the drama was not enough to fulfill the burning desires of the fans! Don’t worry your wait is over because director, Kim Sang Hyub promised that the second season will be spectacular with a fresh plotline that will keep everyone glued to the screen! There will be new faces, along with recurring cast members, Hwang In Yeop, Chan Eun Woo, and Moon Ga Young, without them the drama will lose its essence. 

Let’s walk on the memory lane of the drama first! True Beauty was originally a webtoon series by author, Yaongi. The manhwa was loved by the teen audiences so much that Studio N planned to make a drama adaptation of the series! The story centers around Lim Ju Kyung, a high school girl growing up she was mostly bullied because of her poor looks. Ju Kyung ended up developing an inferiority complex and not being able to blend in with her classmates, one day she decided to try makeup which was a complete disaster! However, when Ju Kyung, slowly masters the art of doing fine makeup, she transforms into a beautiful person becoming one of the most popular girls in school! She even became an influencer on Instagram however, Ju Kyung’s life took a drastic change when she befriended, Lee Su-ho the cold-hearted, handsome, and most popular guy at their school who hates being the center of attention and has a mysterious dark past. Han Seo Jun, on the other hand an aggressive student with amazing talents, he was an ex-Kpop artist. 

The plot thickens when Suho and Han Seo Jun end up developing romantic feelings for Lim Ju Kyung, a fiery love triangle forms, friendship fallouts occur, and misunderstanding develops but in the end, they are able to reconcile, and walk through their differences! Suho and Ju Kyung become lovers and Seo Jun, is finally able to become the shining star he always desired to be.

Now let’s come back to Season 2! True Beauty's second season, will have a very interesting plotline. It will follow the ending parts of the Manhwa, where Lee Suho and Lim Ju Kyung will finally tie the knot and settle down. She will be wearing a beautiful hanbok, and guess what? Ju Kyung's dreams of becoming a popular make-up artist become a reality too. Also, writer Lee Shi Eun said there will be new twists and turns. Suho and Lim Ju Kyung will have a huge conflict, as they will struggle a lot to balance their love and work lives. 

Han Seo Jun will become busier as a famous K-pop artist, he will be seen giving world tours and holding big fan meetings across the globe but one thing that will remain in his heart is the one-sided romantic feelings he harbored for Lim Ju Kyung.

While we all thought the love triangle matter was solved but can feelings be erased that easily?

When the three of them have a special reunion, Seo Jun will still be weak towards Ju Kyung, though he will try his best to hide the lingering feelings. There will be a scene in the second season between Seo Jun and Ju Kyung where she will confront him about his feelings and when the painful memory resurfaces, Suho will appear at the scene, catching the two of them in an awkward position which will create major misunderstandings. So get ready to see another fiery love triangle, friendship fallout and misunderstandings will create massive tension between all of them. 

However, of course, there will be moments in the second season of True Beauty, which will make you laugh, cry, and emotional. This time writer Kim Eun Sook will be adding her fantastic touch to the second season, so you can pretty much get the idea that the storyline of the True Beauty season 2 will be amazing and breathtaking! 

There will be newfound challenges, and trauma from Lee Suho’s family will still bother him from time to time. Lim Ju Kyung on the other hand, will start to develop a good bond with her family members because remember in the past she was often mistreated by them. 

A lot of things have been taken into consideration regarding the new upcoming cast members for the second season but the most speculated ones are to be, Kim Hye Yoon, Lee Jae Wook, Rowoon, Kim Young Dae, BTOB’s Yook Sung Jae, and others are still being talked through. The main leads will be Hwang In Yeop, ASTRO’s Cha Eun Woo, and Moon Ga Young. 

It is also speculated that Ahn Hyo Seop, from, “A Business Proposal”, will make a special cameo, that will enrich the performance of the drama even more! As for the cinematography of the second season of True Beauty, will take place in Namsan Tower, Lotte World, Bukchon Hanok Village, and Daepochang Port Lighthouse, these places are already iconic for filming hit series, including, “Goblin”, “King The Land”, and others.

Did you know that True Beauty has been globally so famous that a Japanese play of it was covered and a live-action is on the way, which is called, “Megami Korin”.  

During the filming period of the drama, writer Yaongi was charged with plagiarism and was accused of stealing ideas, for which she was heavily criticized. The drama and the manhwa both received constructive criticism stating that the plot lacked a strong base, some even dropped the drama mid-way as many claimed the female lead was portrayed as a weak person and the chemistry between the leads felt off, especially the love triangle was dragged too much according to many fans. 

But the success of the drama outshined all the backlashes, because True Beauty also has an anime series, and the animation style is breathtakingly perfect and funny! In August 2023, the animation was published. 

The same year, “True Beauty: Match 3 Puzzle”, the game was released. So overall, True Beauty has been one of the most amazing dramas in the Korean industry that captivated everyone’s heart!
