K-drama fans, rejoice! After years of speculation, the hit 2015 romantic comedy “She Was Pretty” is officially returning for a much-anticipated Season 2 in 2025. The reunion of Hwang Jung Eum and Park Seo Joon promises to deliver not just nostalgia but a fresh and mature take on the beloved love story.

The original “She Was Pretty” captivated audiences with its heartfelt story of Kim Hye Jin (Hwang Jung Eum), a woman who lost her beauty due to hardships, and Ji Sung Joon (Park Seo Joon), her childhood friend turned handsome editor-in-chief who no longer recognized her. The drama’s charm lay in its themes of identity, self-worth, and unconditional love, all wrapped in witty dialogue and emotional warmth.

Season 2 takes us a few years into Hye Jin and Sung Joon’s married life. With new roles at The Most magazine and an evolving media landscape, the couple faces challenges that test their personal dreams and romantic bond.

  • Hye Jin is now a rising editor with a strong voice in fashion journalism.

  • Sung Joon is navigating the tension between creativity and corporate control.

  • Expect new rivals, career dilemmas, and a mysterious newcomer who threatens to shake up the couple’s perfect image.

Several new faces will join the cast, including a young prodigy in publishing who idolizes Hye Jin but becomes a romantic foil. Meanwhile, Kim Shin Hyuk (Choi Siwon) is rumored to make a special appearance, reigniting fan theories and laughs.

The chemistry between Hwang Jung Eum and Park Seo Joon remains magnetic, and sources reveal they’re both “excited to revisit characters that changed their careers.”

Filming began in July 2025, and the show is slated to premiere on tvN in November 2025, with international streaming rights acquired by Viki and Netflix.

The director, who also helmed other hit rom-coms like What's Wrong With Secretary Kim, promises an upgraded emotional depth that reflects the characters’ maturity without losing the charm of the original.

K-drama forums and social media exploded with excitement after the official poster was released, showing Hye Jin and Sung Joon back-to-back in an elegant magazine office, hinting at power couple dynamics and emotional tension.

One fan tweeted, “We’ve waited 10 years for this. Hye Jin and Sung Joon deserve their happy ending – again!”
