The world of Korean drama is about to be shaken up by an electrifying new series titled “Twelve”, bringing together an elite ensemble cast in a high-stakes battle between light and darkness. Led by action powerhouse Ma Dong Seok, fan-favorite actor and singer Seo In Guk, and a villainous turn by the charismatic Park Hyung Sik, this upcoming drama is one of 2025’s most anticipated releases.

Set in a world where ancient powers rise every millennium, “Twelve” tells the story of a secret organization of twelve protectors tasked with defending humanity from supernatural threats. When one of their own—Park Hyung Sik’s character—becomes corrupted by darkness and turns into the very evil they’re sworn to fight, chaos erupts across the world.

Ma Dong Seok takes on the role of Jang Tae Soo, a veteran protector with unmatched strength and leadership. Seo In Guk stars as Yoon Ji Hoon, a brilliant strategist and mage who manipulates energy through ancient symbols. Together, they must reunite the fractured team and prepare for a showdown against their fallen comrade, Do Kyung, played by Park Hyung Sik.

As the protectors confront betrayal, internal conflict, and the rise of a world-ending curse, “Twelve” dives deep into themes of loyalty, redemption, and power.

Known for his charming roles in “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon” and “Happiness,” Park Hyung Sik is taking a dramatic turn by embracing the dark side. His portrayal of Do Kyung—a protector twisted by a thirst for power—marks his most intense role yet.

In an interview during script reading, Park shared:

“This role challenges me like never before. Playing a hero-turned-villain required emotional depth and psychological nuance. I’m excited for fans to see a completely new side of me.”

His transformation into the series' central antagonist is both terrifying and tragic, offering viewers a layered character who believes his path is righteous, no matter the cost.

Joining the trio are some of the industry’s most dynamic actors:

  • Lee Da Hee as So Eun, a time-bending warrior who can reverse brief moments of fate.

  • Ryu Jun Yeol as Min Seok, a scientist who discovers the true origin of the protectors' powers.

  • Kim Ji Won as Ha Yeon, a skilled archer with a secret past tied to Do Kyung.

Each character plays a crucial role in the battle to stop the corrupted protector and bring balance back to the world.

Produced by Studio Dragon in collaboration with Netflix, “Twelve” boasts a massive production budget and global distribution. The drama will feature stunning visual effects, choreographed action sequences, and cinematography that rivals blockbuster films.

With filming locations spanning Seoul, Jeju Island, and Iceland, the production team promises epic landscapes that match the show’s otherworldly tone.

Director Kim Sung Soo, known for “Save Me” and “Kingdom,” brings his signature gritty style to “Twelve.” In his words:

“This is more than a fantasy-action drama. It’s a story about human choice, the temptation of power, and what happens when good people lose their way. The cast truly brings this vision to life.”

Since the casting announcement, fans have flooded social media with excitement. Hashtags like #TwelveKdrama, #ParkHyungSikVillain, and #MaDongSeokVsParkHyungSik have trended multiple times on Twitter.

Many are eager to see the chemistry between Seo In Guk and Ma Dong Seok, whose bromance and clashes are said to be emotional highlights of the drama. Others are most intrigued by Park Hyung Sik’s new image.

K-drama critic Kim Yuna notes:

“There’s a hunger for high-concept K-dramas that mix fantasy and emotion. ‘Twelve’ delivers exactly that—and with such a powerful cast, it might be one of the most successful dramas of 2025.”

“Twelve” is scheduled to premiere in November 2025 on tvN and Netflix, with a total of 16 episodes airing weekly. English subtitles will be available globally, ensuring accessibility for international audiences.
