2020’s tVn drama, It Is Okay Not To Be Okay starring Kim Soo Hyun and Seo Yea Ji was one of the best psychological romantic melodramas ever, where themes of childhood trauma and how healing is not a linear journey were explored most beautifully ever, that it became a global hit! Now since then a lot of drama has happened and many have been longing for a second season of It Is Okay Not To Be Okay, because honestly when Soo Hyun does any drama fans and netizens always crave a second season! Director, Park Shin Woo and tVn decided to make 2025 a bit more spicier by dropping the sizzling news that, It Is Okay Not To Be Okay is coming back with a second season! Directors Park Shin Woo, Jung Dong Yoon, and writer Jo Young recently held a meeting together to discuss whether a second season of the drama should be done or not! Well, the decision is positive and they are moving forward with that plan! Furthermore, the production company Gold Medalist, apparently they have been planning for a long time to star Kim Soo Hyun in one of their projects once more! Now, it has been revealed that Season 2 will be more amazing with such a refreshing plotline that it will keep you hooked to the screen. There will be new filming locations, more stellar cast members, and amazing OSTS, but before delving into the juicy details let us refresh our memories regarding the first season and how it may be linked with the second one! In season 1, we saw the story centered around Moon Gang Tae, a good-looking doctor at a psychiatric ward, who has been blessed with intelligence, great genes, a fit body, calm and collected, everything that makes a man perfect. However, he crossed paths with Ko Mun Young a charming, beautiful popular writer of children’s literature. Gang Tae loses all his patience around her and claims that he detests are presence the most, denying the underlying love that lingers around his heart. As the story proceeded, they both had the same shared childhood trauma. Mun Young suffers from an antisocial personality disorder appearing all selfish and rude but deep down she just needed help. Gang Tae realized that he too has underlying trauma which surfaces whenever she is around him. As the two proceeded to know about each other, they couldn’t help but fall in love, showing vulnerabilities, and accepting each other's flaws. 

Now coming back, the ending of the drama was amusing! How Moon Gang Tae kept on running behind her, declaring his love out loud, while she decided to tease him and just kept moving forward, but the ending kiss scene washed a relief all over us!

According to Korean Media Outlets, it has been reported that the second season plot line will be more tear-jerky, filled with emotional moments that will swoon our hearts to the core. It has been revealed that the second season will focus more on love life, after the confession, and how they will explore their future when they get married or have children. The plotline will be set in a time, when Gang Tae, may tell Mun Young that she can be reassured around his presence and leave her job as a writer which will create a whole level of drama and knowing Mun Young she will not sit idle about this matter, this will rupture their relationship, there will be arguments and honestly Gang Tae will try to handle her with love and affection, and will try to make her understand that how her presence as a mother will be important when they will start a family of theirs, this shift in their relationship will change plenty of things for them. 

Moon Sang Tae, Nam Joo Ri, and other characters' side stories will be explored, and how important their role will be in their future. More characters will be seen in the drama and it will be amazing. Sources have claimed that new faces in the second season will be seen, Kim Soo Hyun and Seo Yea Ji will be there and other actors like Kim Ji Won, Jung Hae In, Park Seo Joon, and others will be there adding more spice to the new season! There will be newfound challenges at Gang Tae’s workplace where difficult patients will arrive, and new fans and male fans will swamp Mun Young on the other hand will still try to hit on her which will cause another rift between Moon Gang Tae and Mun Young! The situation will be amusing to watch. 

There are speculations that Ahn Hyo Seop and others may make a special cameo which will be fun to see! New locations will be added, like Nam San Tower, Hanmi Bookstore, and other places so it will be a sight to see. Now for the OSTS, new singers will be there like Sam Kim, Chen from EXO, and Gummy who will enhance the performance of the drama even more. It Is Okay Not To Be Okay was selected by Forbes and was given the title of Best Kdrama Of 2020. It also became one of Netflix’s top 10 best series, with an impressive viewership rating! It even got several awards including, the Asian Artist Award, Asia Pacific Star Award, and Baeksang Star Award! The drama even received some severe backlashes. During episode 3, many fans and netizens pointed out the fact that the way Seo Yea Ji’s character acted out while Kim Soo Hyun was changing his clothes was not funny rather it appeared more like harassment and the physical touches made many viewers feel uncomfortable. What was more carelessly handled was the mention of the infamous Burning Sun Scandal as a parody in the show, people did not take this matter lightly. 

Because of this the production company, crew members, and directors had to apologize to everyone for recklessly handling Easter eggs and the addition of anecdotes without putting much thought into it was a mistake and they should have been careful.

The drama holds a special place in  Kim Soo Hyun’s heart as it was his first drama after mandatory military service. Moreover, after the drama ended many rumors came that Seo Yea Ji and Kim Soo Hyun were dating but those were rumors as the chemistry between them was so good! 

For now, Soo Hyun is preparing for the upcoming drama Knock Off and Seo Yea Ji changed her agencies and is working under SUBLIME.
